Last Day

Hi, every one! This is Daniel, reporting from the last day at Enrich. That's right - it's the last day of Enrich for 2013 and the day EVER for the year sixes (and Jemmimah). Jemmimah (or often known as Jimmy) is going to live some place or other with her dad, Darryn.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!!

VERY Important!

Hello out there!!! Do you remember that Keynote I was talking about??? Well, I presented it today. (By the way, last time I blogged about it, there was still a lot more work to do!) Here is the slide the teachers loved the most:

My 'thanks' slide said thank-you to everyone who put their time and effort into helping me finish it. Nicola said that we will work on putting thanks and things like that into keynotes and other things next year because it is VERY important and polite to thank people. The keynote I loved best of all was Jackson's because he had a wonderful habits of mind slide on JRR Tolkien.

Mad Science!!!

Hi everyone!! Today the big thing that happened was: science. We filled small containers with different substances. They were the following: Vinegar, baking soda, jelly crystals, soy sauce and lots more products.

Digital Citizenship

Nicola told us the day plan and we rolled into the day. We started out with our Affective study.  I have finished mine on keynote and I think it looks good but it still needs to be checked. Robotics today was frustrating because we had to start all over again because our robot looked a bit wonky. I learnt today that our internet footprints start before we are born and that it grows bigger and bigger every second.  I learnt that safety on the internet is very important.

Robotics.

Chuck! Chuck! Chuck! Thats the noise of people controlling NXT lego robots. Jackson and I already had our robot painfully inching its way along the track Darryn, one of the teachers here, had made. One of the smarter kids in robotics,Kyle, had already gotten his robot to work, but he had to leave early.

Yours Truly, Daniel.

Strong, Stable Shape!

Had a good holiday? I have. Back to blogging. This morning we started with a technology challenge. The aim was that we had to make a chair that had to be strong enough to hold the biggest wooden frogs we have here. The expectations were: It had to have a back, at lest 4 legs and, like I said, it had to hold the biggest wooden frog.  I worked with Jackson, Neave and Pearl, (we are a Salford bunch!)  Our chair failed because we didn't make the legs strong enough. If I could change one thing about it, it would have been the shape of the legs.  Instead of straight, we would have included triangles to help make it a really strong, stable part!

Pirate Names!!

Well!! I certainly was wrong when I said that I was finished doing my lino prints.  I actually needed to finish off all my prints that are blue and green and print the Lorax on.  I needed to cut out the Lorax but I cut out the stump underneath him instead.  Since the sun was facing the Lorax in the print, the stump that he was standing on should look brighter than the stumps behind him.  Did you know that everyone on Friday has a pirate name.  Mine is: Bowman Sea Head Jones!!

Too much ink.

Maybe I'm right. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I should just get on with my blog. What do you think? You would agree with me. Passion time today: The three overprints that I did today, didn't work because there was too much ink on my lino block, and the lino block is getting a bit thin because I have cut too much out of it.  The solution?  I am just going to stick to a double-coloured print instead - three would be too much.

That Lorax!!

Hi, I'm at Enrich, and I'm ready to tell you about my day. Started of with the usual - Roll and Admin. Then passion time. Man, that Lorax is really getting on my nerves!!  But I'm on my third colour over print at last. Next we had morning tea - not talking about that and that is that. Now lets get on with the story. The gifted person I'm studying is Steve Irwin - as  you probably know. And so now I'm doing this blog for you, and the rest of the world, to see and read.

Bye for now

Daniel.

What a day...

Hi everyone.  It's Friday again!  I started my day at Enrich with passion time.  My Lorax again... Today, I spent time chiseling out the grass, and by the time I did that, I only managed to get one test print done.  It was my first triple-coloured print.  The Lorax was orange, the grass was green, and the sky was blue.  My next step, for next week, is to complete my 12 triple-coloured prints.  After morning tea, I got stuck into my study on Steve Irwin.  I finished off my research notes, but I might need to check with one of the teachers to see if I really am finished!

Blue and Green and Blue and Green all over!!!

Dear blog readers. Today I did more work on my lino printing during passion time.  By the state of my face and my favourite FOX jersey, I have been working with blue and green ink.  I'm not sure what Mum will say when she picks me up today! I was printing over my 12 original prints to make them a multi-coloured print.  The next stage for me will be taking off the grass on my lino block and I will be able to continue multi-coloured printing next week.

Thursday 15 August 2013

Well! Well! Well!

Still haven't given up on me yet I see. Well you're probably in for a surprise. You see, I've had an amazing day. It started off with some rotations.  I went to Nicola and did a multiple intelligence test.  My top three strengths were: Self, Musical and Language smart.  I was quite surprised that I came out so strong in music, as I haven't been doing it that long - I've only started this year.  After morning tea, I had passion time.  I finished off doing all of my lino prints of the Lorax.  My next step is to take off another layer of my block and to have a go at multi-coloured printing using a print I've already done.

Busy! Busy! Busy!

Hello! Hello! Are you ready for another episode of ' My Day At Enrich?` Well, you must be so I will start.  Today we started of with some chess. I played two people and lost  the 1st one and stalemated 2nd one.  Stalemate is when you have both only got the kings left on the board so no one can win.

After chess, I did a workshop. It was a workshop on Prezi, a really cool website that we may use for our work here at Enrich. So I advise you wisely to use that website.

Bye for now, Daniel.

There's been an emergency!

Oh no! There's been an emergency! Not really it was only just a techno-challenge - but not with real people - with sugar babies! Plus we had 22 minutes to build our stretchers and we had very flimsy materials. So as you can see, it was a very tight competition. But looking on the bright side, my team came in second place.

And in this tech challenge I learnt that things that seem impossible are sometimes possible.

Finished!!

Alright! Alright!  I know you're all eager to hear about my day.  I'll tell you about Passion-Time. Well I've finished, I can assure you!!  Well here's a time-line of my lino-Print [ a lino-print; that's my passion project ].  It started off like a normal piece of lino, then I had to print a picture of what I wanted.  I then printed it onto my lino and started carving it out.  Once I carved out all the lines I was ready  to start printing. I learnt how to carve out the lino instead of cutting it out.

i-Pad apps rule!

My workshop today was learning new apps on the i-Pads. My favourite app was Simple Physics. I got to build structures such as bridges and submarines.  My next favourite app was pic collage. We got to type and load cool images off the web.

Drama!

"Ha! Did you know you're all in groups!" We were on the mat and Nicola was talking. "Fancy that," she was saying. "You're in groups all ready!" After that shenanigan was over, we started doing drama. Our first activity was: 10 Second Objects, in which someone has to call out a thing, so, for example: 'hot breakfast', and you and your group have to try and make it [using everyones bodies]. This type of game is called spatial drama. So there you are. My drama of the day!

Read me!

Bonjour readers. Have I got some news for you! Darryn really liked my art today and is getting it framed. Then he's going to put it up on the wall/on a pole. Ahhhhh! The life for me! But there was a lot of things to do before that happened! In fact I'm not even sure if I've finished my sketch yet. I'll have to check with Darryn if it's up to standard! But enough of that, because it's time to say goodbye. So this blog is finished.

The Three Rings.

Hello!! What have you done today? I've done fun passion time. I've been learning how to draw - so I can draw for my painting. Thinking back to the start of the day we looked at The Three Rings - a gifted model made by: Renzulli.

Thursday 9 May 2013

The secret. . .

Darryn told Hamish,Jackson and me the secret to sketching... you have to keep glancing at your object and then at what your are drawing. Today I had a go at drawing 3 people and an apple. Darryn told us that it is okay for parts of your drawing to overlap. It makes it look more realistic.

More painting

I wish that we would do more painting!! And today me and Jackson did more art! We painted an apple on a plate. When I did my background I painted over the apple stalk, but Jackson didn't. He only painted over half the stem. We used lots of colour blending today - it is tough work!

Passion Time.

Hello people of the world! For my passion time today I did  painting with Jackson. His favourite colour was light blue and mine was cold red/pink. I had to change the water 2 or 3 times! Blending colours was really hard. We kept on doing stripes, but you actually have to go from the darkest shade to the lightest shade.  To do that, you have to mix the colours really well. Jackson and I are working on painting as our type of art, and eventually we are going to put our work into an exhibition.  I hope we can get an artist in to help us - that would be really cool and make things a bit easier to understand.

B.O.S.S.

Can you guess what we did today? If you can't I will tell you. Enrich went all the way to: Queens Park. B.O.S.S -Thats the secret word. Yep. B.O.S.S. Stands for: Beauty, Order, Strength and Survivability. We got thousands and thousands of pictures about patterns! So long.

Hot hot hot hot hot hot hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot!!!!!! Most definitely, terribly hot!!!! This  morning my Mum made me wear jeans and a long sleeved top and a jersey. Before morning tea we did talent development tasters, my favourite taster was music with funny Nicola.  I learnt the bass-staff, and a new song. It is called: My life would suck without you. The other taster was Probability and guesstamating with Jenni.

Why today!????????????????????????????????!

Later today, at 10.50  I did a sketch of a 3D Rook with Darryn. I got a fine piece of thick paper, and with a sharp sharp pencil, & sharp sharp brain, and a good rubber I did my sketch. Before that at 10.10 we went onto YouTube, and looked at a boy called: Caine. Sorry but I should be on the mat. Bye for now.

Custom Glitter Text

Hello!! Hello!! Hello!!

At a workshop with, Darryn I made a Fractal-star shape called a Koch snowflake. Making a Fractal started out really hard and then..... IT GOT HARDER!!!

To outline mine I used complementary colours. My colours were : red & green. Other colours were: yellow + purple & orange + blue. I  felt excited about making mine because I had never done Fractals before.

Hooplaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

"3,2,1 JUMP!!"

Clap! .

"Oh, um, Hi I'm glad that you're here. We're playing: THE  DEATH HOOP as you can see, and my group are  Hamish, Josh and I"

The hoop's over there. I  look down at my feet. Oops! "Shwoop! You're feet were apart. Back to the beginning."Katie laughed.  My group try & try... but  no matter how hard we try we fail in our mission to reach .... the hoop!
